THE DAILY MAIL - WORLD'S FIRST MICROWAVE-POWERED BOILER COULD PROVIDE A ZERO-EMISSIONS REPLACEMENT FOR TRADITIONAL GAS VERSIONS BY 2022
March 16, 2021
A British energy technology firm is developing the world's first microwave-powered boiler, which could replace standard gas boilers from 2022.
Heat Wayv, from the firm of the same name, uses microwaves, just like a microwave oven, to heat up water – providing a home with central heating and hot water.
The futuristic-looking boiler is also internet-connected, controllable on a smartphone app, runs almost silently and is 'virtually maintenance free'.
THE GUARDIAN - FIRST MICROWAVE-POWERED HOME BOILER COULD HELP CUT EMISSIONS
March 16, 2021
The creators of the world’s first microwave-powered boiler have said it can provide a straightforward, zero-emissions replacement for the gas boilers that heat most homes in the UK.
HOMEBUILDING & RENOVATING - MICROWAVE BOILERS COULD OFFER HEAT PUMPS ALTERNATIVE FOR DECARBONISING HOMES
March 17, 2021
The creators of the world’s first microwave-powered boiler say the technology could help to cut emissions from home heating, and could directly replace existing gas boilers.
Around 14% of the UK’s carbon emissions comes from heating our homes, and the government is exploring methods to ensure the UK reaches net zero emissions by 2050.

THE ECONOMIST - IF YOU CAN HAVE MICROWAVE OVENS, WHY NOT MICROWAVE BOILERS?
April 8 2021
Decarbonising an economy is a big job. Coal- and gas-fired power plants must be swapped for wind, solar or nuclear ones. Petrol-driven cars must be replaced by electric versions. Less attention is paid to heating. But in cold countries such as Britain, warming houses, offices and the like consumes more fossil fuel than either electricity generation or transport.
The fuel involved is usually natural gas. This is burned in a central boiler in order to heat water that flows to radiators elsewhere in the building. Britain's government would like to change this. From 2025 gas-fired boilers will be banned in newly built homes. By the mid-2030s installing new gas boilers in existing houses will be banned, too.
